One day I met a girl from another high school by the name of Mindy, and when she shook my hand, I saw glimpses of her life.  It didn’t happen all of the time, but when it did, I felt I needed to share.

            “Listen, I know this is going to sound weird, especially since we’ve just met, but God loves you.  You don’t need to keep giving yourself away.  Jesus is enough, and I spent my life running from that love.”

            Tears formed in her eyes. “How do you know how I feel?” Mindy asked.

            “I don’t, but God does.  He wants nothing more than to be with you and heal your heart.  What I am about to tell you is very important.  You’re going to meet a new guy, and he is going to make you feel good about yourself.  You’re going to want to leave with him, but you don’t know him.  If you leave with him, he will hurt you,” I told her.

            By this point Mindy was weeping.  “Who are you?  Are you some sort of angel or something?”

            I began to chuckle, because I was no saint by any means.  I had simply reached her by sharing God’s love for her. “I’m just a messed up guy who was saved by God’s love.  Jesus can save you, too.  Just ask Him.”

I didn’t know how reaching people for Christ worked, so I just said what came to me.

 Meet Eddie David Santiago:  Eddie David Santiago has worked in the mental health/substance abuse field since he was 18 years old.  He holds bachelor degrees in both psychology and religious studies and has provided counseling related services for multiple mental health, substance abuse and human service agencies.  In addition, he earned his master’s degree in counseling along with certification in educational administration.

With over fifteen years of counseling related experience, Eddie founded the organization L.E.A.D. (Love Endures And Delivers) which offers interactive group trainings, seminar sessions, speaking opportunities for groups of all ages and crisis counseling sessions.

THROUGH THE VALLEY, LOVE ENDURES is based on Eddie’s early collection of writings, through which he found his voice.  He seeks to inspire others to find their voice and share their own stories.
Eddie resides in the Midwest with his beautiful wife Sarah and their three amazing children, Faith, Isaiah and Makaylah.
